Fortunoff : New Jewelry Website

Fortunoff is back the jewelry store and outdoor furniture brand field chapter 11 and last year was liquidated. However at this time Fortunoff is back selling fine jewelry during a new online destination, Fortunoffjewelry.com.

Fortunoff was established by 1922 by Clara and Max Fortunoff in Brooklyn, New York and became a well-liked retailer of jewelry and outdoor furniture, home decorations, tabletop, bed and bath and gifts.

The members of the two families sold a majority stake in 2005 in the business to two private equity firms, selling off the remainder of their equity in Fortunoff a pair year later.

Fortunoff has filed Chapter 11 by February 2008. One more private equity firm NRDC, purchased it and planned to put Fortunoff shops in Taylor and Lord department stores. In 2009 those plans fizzled and Fortunoff went out of business.

Currently back in the hands of the founding Fortunoff family, Fortunoff Fine Jewelry has produced the new e-commerce site with future plans for eventual brick-and-mortar destinations. The shop features designs by Judith Jack, Natasha Wozniak, Misha of N.Y and the Black & White Vintage Collection.

The piece publicized at right features black diamonds set in white gold on an agate base and sells for $1,795. The company as well has reopened the Fortunoff Backyard Store, which sells outdoor furniture and seasonal decorations at locations in New York and New Jersey!
